Plant Spirit Medicine and the Shamanic Realms: Healing with the Plant People and the Standing People in Shamanism
Three parts, although the weekends can also be taken individually.
Dates: 2018 - July 7-8, Oct 13-14, Dec 15-16.
Times: Saturdays 10 till 6, Sundays 10 till 5.
Tutors: Paul Francis (with possibly some assistance from Tracy Owens and Rachel Surtees).
Working with the Plant People and the Standing People (the Trees) is a huge part of shamanic healing. Shamans know that plants are intelligent, sentient and vast multi-dimensional beings. Along with the Stone People, they are the oldest and wisest of the People, great teachers and powerful healers. On these weekends we will be working to meet and develop a close working relationship with several Plant and Standing Spirits, learning their healing medicine and wisdom.
We will explore the difference between working with an individual plant, and working with the Oversoul of a plant species. We will experience some different shamanic ways of tuning in to plants and their medicines, including ‘groking’, shapeshifting and ‘dieting’. We will practice some of the different ways plants may be worked with, including ingesting, smoking, topical applications, burial, shapeshifting, and working directly with the plant spirit.
As well as exploring some specific plants and their uses, each weekend will also be centred around exploring one of the shamanic realms. So as well as learning about working with the Plant People, the weekends will provide an excellent opportunity to deepen one’s connection with the lower, middle and upper worlds. The themes will be…
July 7-8: grounding, roots and the lower-world.
October 13-14: trees and the upper-world.
December 15-16: boundaries, protection, and the middle-world.
Please note, this is a course about learning to work with plants as a whole. It has nothing to do with using ayahuasca (or any other hallucinogenic plants)!
It is unlikely this course will run again for several years, so if you want to do it, then now is your chance!
“Learning about plants is fundamental to Shamanism and I would wholeheartedly recommend anybody who is committed to learning more about this path to attend these courses. I came away from these weekends in awe at the vastness of healing possibilities that are at our finger-tips, given freely by Plant Spirit. The Earth really is abundant in the amazing, sentient gifts that she offers us through plants, flowers and trees. Paul’s knowledge in this area, is astounding. I came away from these courses feeling nourished with healing, wisdom and experience. A great way to reconnect yourself to the magic of the natural world.” L.M., Cumbria.
