The Three Ravens College of Therapeutic Shamanism.
Exploring the Shamanic Realms: the upperworld and the middleworld.
In five parts, although the weekends can also be taken individually.
Dates: Will be offered again in 2018.
Over five weekends, this course is for people with relatively little shamanic experience, and for experienced practitioners. If you are fairly new to shamanism these weekends will give you a really in-depth experience of the three shamanic realms. For experienced practitioners, the weekends will give you a chance to map out these realms and bring them to life in a way that will really deepen your connection and experience of working with them. On the upperworld weekends, we will literally make maps of the realm, mapping out the settlements, terrain, flora and fauna. Using a mixture of journeying, drawing, map-making and story telling, we will flesh out the Spirits we meet, getting to know their ‘backstory’: their history, their relatives, where they live, what they do, and so on. This will hugely deepen your connection with any existing guides, give you the chance to meet new guides and teachers, and greatly enhance your shamanic experience and shamanic healing skills.
In the middleworld weekends we will explore how to work safely in this sometimes tricky realm. We will explore issues about safety, and how to do middleworld Journeys. We will also explore meeting and working with middleworld beings and spirits, including helpful and unhelpful entities, lost souls, and spirits of objects and places. We will explore issues such as de-possession, cleansing and space clearing.
Most importantly on the middleworld weekends, we will explore what the role of the shaman really is - to be a mediator between Human People and the other Peoples. This will involve exploring what this means in the modern world, including looking at stepping into the role of being an advocate and a voice tor the Plants, the Stones, the Animals and the Elementals. We will look at how to do this without becoming overwhelmed by the pain of the world, and how we can help the world.
As well as exploring the three Worlds as outer experiences, we will explore them as inner experiences too, exploring the Worlds in terms of Spirit (Upper World), our Middle World Self (Ego), and our Authentic Soul (our wild, Lower World self). Learning about these three aspects of ourselves is a hugely important part of shamanic work.
